Before the call.
How do engagements actually work?
There are three domains (Operations, Talent & Hiring, People & Development) that describe what the work covers. There are three engagement shapes (The Brief, The Foundation, Embedded Operator) that describe how you engage us, plus scoped project work for specific builds. Any domain can be delivered through any shape. You don't pick a domain off a menu, you bring the problem and we scope it.
What does it cost?
The Brief is $500 for a one-week, one-question engagement. The Foundation is $2,500 for a two-week diagnostic and build. Embedded Operator and scoped projects are quoted per engagement after a short call, because the scope genuinely varies. Hourly is a select tier for existing clients, with the rate shared privately.
Why isn't all the pricing on the page?
The productized work has fixed prices because the scope is fixed. The bespoke work doesn't, because an embedded engagement at a 20-person startup and a 75-person company are different jobs. Publishing a single number for those would either anchor you low or scare you off. You get a real number in a written proposal after a thirty-minute call.
What's the difference between the three shapes?
Depth. The Brief answers one focused question in a week. The Foundation diagnoses across a domain and builds one thing in two weeks. Embedded Operator is a fractional Head of Operations or People in the seat, ongoing, with no minimum commitment.
Do you do hiring and comp and training, or just operations?
All of it. Org design, mass hiring, compensation, performance, training and facilitation, vendor negotiation, terminations, cross-border. Those live inside the engagement shapes, not outside them.
Is there a minimum commitment?
No. The Brief and The Foundation are fixed-scope. Embedded Operator has no minimum, you stay because it works, not because a contract says so.
Do you replace our HR person or our lawyer?
Neither. We augment an existing team or stand in where there isn't one. Legal drafting and review of anything contractual stays with your own employment counsel, where it belongs. We build the operating system around the documents, not the legal instruments themselves.
What size and stage of company do you work with?
Founders, CEOs, and Heads of Operations at companies of roughly fifteen to seventy-five. Funding-agnostic: venture-backed, private-equity-backed, and bootstrapped. Smaller and solo founders are a fit for The Brief.
Where do you operate?
The United States and Canada, including multi-state and cross-border work. Coverage detail is on the About page.
How is the first call structured?
Thirty minutes, no deck. You describe what's breaking, we tell you what we'd do about it whether or not you hire us. It's a diagnostic, not a sales pitch.
